Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.

But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?

Warning: Do not read while sipping hot liquids. Or cold ones. Or while sitting anywhere laughter would be inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppies and a snarky pair of underwear.

It was alright..

Overall the book with okay and the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because of how much the main male character irked me. I love just about all of Elle’s Briar books, but this Blake guy annoyed me how he talked! He seemed overly pushy and really immature with his vocabulary which in my opinion made him unattractive. I loved the story line and had this character been written much different I would’ve given a better review. I think I’ll just stick to the Off Campus and Briar U series...

It’s not what you think

I thought this book was going to be about a dominant female and male, but maybe the male submits to her in the bedroom. Nothing overtly domme/sub or BDSM, but maybe some elements. Something! This book has none of that. The title refers to the dog on the cover, not really the relationship between the two main characters. However, the book is still very cute and lovely. Your average romance novel, but still funny and worth reading. I usually hate split POV romances with a passion (it feels like lazy writing to me, to just switch POVs and tell me exactly what the other character is thinking instead of making me figuring it out through their dialogue/actions), but this is one of the few books where the split POV works because the characters think so differently. The guy has a unique way of thinking/talking that amused and stuck with me for days after I finished reading. It actually feels like two different people, instead of my worst fear, with which is different POVs obviously written by the same person because the narration is too similar, ugh.

Fun and happy

I loved that book because it’s an easy read with very little drama and lots out happy times. But as a Canadian I can tell you that there is no such thing as Toronto red as part of the colors of the Toronto maple leafs hockey team colors. It is just blue and white.

“Good Boy” is barely dog adjacent. It’s just a ploy to get you to read a book where the romantic lead is a loud, crude, and rude guy. Author does bring out his better side but he’s still an ignorant buffoon.

Cheezus I loved this book!

Cheezus I loved this book! The hilarious and witty banter, the playful innuendo and flirting, and of course the smoking sexy times made for the perfect book! Good Boy is the first book in the new WAGs series. It features characters from other books by the writing duo of Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, but can be read as a standalone. Blake is a character that you will find immensely amusing and loveable, or extremely annoying and immature. I clearly found him adorable. He comes across as a cocky and wisecracking jock, but underneath, he's a loyal, protective, and huggable teddy bear. His inner monologue was some of the funniest I have ever read and I had a perpetual grin on my face reading this book. Jess is also an amazing heroine who really grows through the course of the book. Her struggle with her confidence and her drive to go after her dreams was realistic and heartfelt. Haven't we all felt a little lost and less than at one point or another? The chemistry between Blake and Jess was amazing and I loved how they each kept each other in check and could be both playful and serious with each other. They may not have started their relationship in the most conventional way, but I loved how it all unfolded. Another thing that made this book really enjoyable were the awesome secondary characters (Wesmie!) and that there wasn't any unnecessary additional drama. Truly a fantastic read, and I can't wait for the next book, Stay!

If you read HIM and US (amazing must reads), you'll be happy to learn that Jamie and Wesley are in this book. They aren't the leads, but it's a treat to see more of them. Jess is Jamie's sister. Blake is Wesley's teammate, and he lives in the same building as Jamie and Wesley. Jess and Blake had a hookup in US, but they weren't actually together. Jess feels like she isn't as put together as the rest of the Canning clan. She's trying to figure out her life. Blake is adorable. At first glance, he seems shallow and only surface deep, but that's because he likes to keep things lite. He prefers to make people happy. He's kind and funny, beautiful inside and out. Jess and Blake are so easy to love. They're decent people with big hearts and relatable actions. Both are great friend material, and they definitely fit as a couple. I really enjoyed this story. It left me with a good feeling. It's a mix of RomCom, sweet, sexy and sporty. It's worth checking out for sure.

**4.5 stars** Oh man, when I found out Blake was going to get his own story, I could not wait to get my hands on it. Blake was one of my favorite secondary characters that is introduction during Him and Us. I'm fairly sure he just got more comical as we learned more about him. But this story? It makes you realize just how amazing and funny he really is. Elle and Sarina, once again, did an amazing job with the characters. Blake and Jess's story is so unbelievably sweet. I didn't want it to end. You end up loving them both and learning how much they both have overcome in their lives. Blake has you laughing out loud and his "Blakeisms" and you just can't help but loving him. Watching Jess fight her attraction to Blake has to be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. The harder she tries to resist him the more serious he gets with his game. Blake is seriously a charmer and oh did he ever charm Jess. You snippets of Wesmie and the rest of the team, but the story mostly focuses on Blake and Jess. You won't regret reading this amazing story. I can't wait for book 2 in this new spin-off series.

This book can be read as a standalone novel. For those who have not read the HIM series, WARNING: spoilers ahead! This is the beginning of a new series featuring the characters from a previous one. Blake & Jess have a complicated history. When they see one another again, Blake wants more than just a brush off. Jess wants to walk away from the past. Jess knows her family thinks less of her already. The last thing she needs is to give them a reason to doubt her again. The wedding must be perfect. She must forget about Blake. This is a seriously fun read! Featuring characters I dearly love, and more about hockey too. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the WAGs series!! ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

Wes and Jamie final married. Loved how the wedding fell into place nothing too flashy. I fell in love with Riley and Jess. They had me loving them as couple from the beginning. Riley is the strength and positive energy Jess needed in her life. I really want more on where their relationship goes.

love this writing duo

LOVED IT!!!!

I enjoyed every minute. It made me laugh, smile, and left me feeling good. These two writers know how to entertain and write such fun characters both main and supporting. If you want a peek of Wes and Jaime's happily ever after you sure get it and even if you don't know who they are Blake is worth getting to because he will put one big smile on your face with his huge heart.

Funny Man

Where can I get one. This story kept me reading all the way through. Love the flirty nature and hot sex in the car seen.

Lettered Woman

Misleading title/cover

“Good Boy” is barely dog adjacent. It’s just a ploy to get you to read a book where the romantic lead is a loud, crude, and rude guy. Author does bring out his better side but he’s still an ignorant buffoon.
